A quick note on crates.
Yes, I have been crating Penny in a travel kennel. My logic was twofold: that I would save money by only purchasing one crate, and that I would save trauma for Penny by only having to get her used to one giant box instead of two - that she would associate the travel kennel not only with the car but with her own home.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that’s probably not the right way of doing things. The claustrophobic enclosure of the travel kennel might be contributing to Penny’s anxiety, so I just ordered a mesh crate (it should be here next week sometime via amazon). Until then she’ll stay in the kennel, but by the end of the month all the transitionary chaos should be taken care of and hopefully we’ll be settled into a routine.
